Bonus Potential Summary/Objective The Director - Chaplain coordinates the Spiritual Ministry of the hospital to the patients, their families and hospital staff. Performs religious services and rites to meet the needs of patients, their families and the hospital staff. Supervises the Pastoral Care Ministry of BHSET and its affiliates, as well as the Congregational Health Ministries Program of the hospital. - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Directs the daily actives of the Chaplaincy Department though prioritizing and delegating activates for ministry within the hospital.Provides instruction and education to department staff to further their development. Evaluates patients, their families and hospital staff spiritual needs through patient visits, as well as staff interaction, and initiating or recommending programs and services to help meet those needs. Provides for administrative support of the Ethics Committee and acts as liaison between patient, family, and hospital staff during illness of long-term duration, sudden critical illness or injury, living-dying interval, and lengthy or difficult surgery. Directs the activities of the Chaplaincy Department relating to Organ and Tissue Donation Policies and Procedures and Decedent Affairs and the Departments interface with appropriate agencies, services and hospital team members regarding end-of-life issues. Supervises the administration of the Chaplain's Emergency Relief Fund and advocacy initiatives of the Chaplaincy Department. Acts as a liaison between and represents Baptist Hospital within the religious community though supervision of Congregational Health Ministries programing within the Chaplaincy Department, notifying local churches/pastors of patient admissions, as well as taking part in the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual meetings. Required Education and Experience Master's Degree in Divinity or Theology Four Units in Clinical Pastoral Education from a certified Association for Clinical Pastoral Education training center, Eligibility to be Board Certified as a chaplain.
