Job Description:
SUMMARY
The Preschool Director shall exercise authority and responsibility
for the overall successful operations of the Preschool Program.
Carries out all Preschool Performance Standards. Plans and
implements an instructional program designed to meet the philosophy
and guidelines of the school. Monitor the educational programs and
activities of the school toward specific goals; making or providing
for appropriate adjustments in the programs for improvement.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs at the end of the year
and share the findings with the Tribal Council and teaching
staff.
The principle will have oversite and assist the Preschool Director
in these areas:
* Ensure that academic policies and curriculum are followed.
* Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional
success
* Ensure completion of routine and required paperwork including:
test results, educators, and staff.
* Coordinate and implement the school budget
* Collaboration of School calendars, making sure that all Soboba
Schools are on the same schedule
* Making sure policies and procedures are kept current
Coordinate the Preschool staff and directly supervise the work and
furnish guidance to the staff. Plan and implement staff development
on an ongoing basis for all staff members; schedule and implement
regular staff meetings. Acquaint the staff with the cultural
background of the students. Ensure that there is active parent
involvement in the classroom and other phases of the program. Keep
the Tribal Council, community and parents/guardians informed of
school activities and functions; maintain community involvement in
the preschool.
Prepare a detailed annual budget and present it to the Tribal
Council for adoption. Recommend financial plans in accordance with
the school's goals and objectives. Inform the Tribal Council
whenever the school program may be endangered by lack of funds or
an over expenditure of school funds. Maintain an adequate record
keeping system, including financial matters and ensuring
confidentiality of individual program records. See that all reports
and grant reports are updated annually and is responsible for
keeping all programs in compliance with State and Federal
guidelines. Keep the Tribal Council informed and updated on all
phases of the preschool program.
Responsible for purchasing all necessary supplies, equipment and
other school materials. Enforce Tribal/School employee Policies and
Procedures. Attend Tribal Council meeting upon request of the
Tribal Council. Must maintain an attitude of cooperation with all
employees, members and guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES
Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include
the following:
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with adults and
children.
* Perform routine clerical work.
* Understand and follow oral and written directions.
* Work with individual and small groups of children.
* Maintain acceptable standards of behavior among students at all
times.
* Plan and organize to meet fixed schedules.
* Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
* Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of
work.
* Maintains clean and organized work environment.
EDUCATION
* B.A. Degree
* First Aide Certification
EXPERIENCE
* 2-5 years experience in managing and directing in a similar
program
QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to take delegation of work assignments and to follow
direction and works well with others.
* Provide superior customer service skills
* Ability to work under pressure conditions
* Meet the general needs and behaviors of the Indian children
served
* Use correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuations and basic
mathematics
* The operation of standard office equipment
* Basic safety rules, habits and principles of first aid
* Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate program goals,
requirements and activities with staff and parents
* Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the Preschool and
to the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians
* Physical stamina is necessary for dealing with children and may
require standing for several hours at a time

* A current California Drivers License or California
Identification
